The Met Breuer

The Met Breuer will open next week and we had a private preview of the inaugural exhibition, “Unfinished: Thoughts Left Visible”, a historical survey of incompleteness in art”. Let us remember that the mission of the Met Breuer is a new destination for Modern and Contemporary art in the Marcel Breuer building, opened in 1966.The question on everyone’s minds is “will the Metropolitan Museum of Art  be able "to rethink the relationship of the old and new by using its unparalleled collections to view the present through the lens of the past”?

The “Unfinished” theme as the first exhibition is very disappointing and creates a mediocre result! It would have been a possibility for a later exhibition or a smaller one within this inaugural show. Overall it feels “unfinished” and perhaps in the future the mission statement will be addressed and an exhibition will be created to reveal the burgeoning and ongoing dialogue of artists in the 20th and 21st centuries.
