Berlinde de Bruyckere-Romeu Runa

The extraordinary performance of the Portuguese dancer Romeu Runa performing the world premiere of “Sibylle”at Hauser & Wirth on January 30th blew my mind, on the occasion of Berlinde de Bruyckere’s exhibition“No Life Lost”.It is the second collaboration of the artist and the dancer who is world-renowned and a member of the Belgian dance company les ballets C de la B. The dancer brings to life the sculptor’s breath of her animals. The classical references to Ovid’s myth of Apollo and the Cumaen Sibyl  combined with the skin trade workshop which de Bruyckere has been involved with for many years to execute her sculptures underline the inspiration of this performance.FullSizeRender-1
