It was wonderful to see Christo and his team last evening at the Craig F. Starr Gallery’s opening of “Christo: Show Windows and Store Fronts, 1963-67”. It’s been ten years since Jeanne-Claude and Christo presented their monumental project, “The Gates, (Project for Central Park) in 2005,  where my role as the liaison between the artists and Mayor Michael Bloomberg resulted in the realization of “The Gates”.

It was exciting to hear about Christo’s new project, “The Floating Piers, Project for Lake Iseo, Italy”, which will take place June 18th- July 3rd, 2016. It’s definitely on my travel schedule after the Basel Art Fair.

Further uptown, Peter Doig is showing a series of new paintings at the Michael Werner gallery. A number of these works were included in the Palazzetto Tito during the 56th Venice Biennale.  Doig’s lush paintings and his use of dream-like imagery, often based on his ties to Trinidad attest to his recognition as one of the most inventive and original painters today!
